Anaid Art Gallery is delighted to announce the second solo show in Baden-Baden, “Fragile Eden”, by the renowned artist Alexandru Rădvan, curated by Diana Dochia, PhD, hosted within the historic ambiance of the Altes Dampfbad in Baden-Baden. The exhibition will officially open on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the imposing Säulensaal (Hall of Columns) and will remain open to the public until August 30, 2026.
With “Fragile Eden,” Alexandru Rădvan transforms the Hall of Columns of the Altes Dampfbad into a space for critical reflection on the state of the world, human nature, and the illusion of harmony. The large-scale paintings on display engage in a profound, tense dialogue both with the monumental columns of the historic hall and with the architectural identity of the venue, deeply rooted in the original concept of a pool. These monumental canvases create the setting for a paradise threatened in its very existence—brittle, fleeting, and profoundly vulnerable.
Rădvan’s artistic practice has always been defined by an intense exploration of myths, archetypes, and the condition of humanity. In this new body of work, he questions the concept of "Eden"—viewing it not as a static realm of absolute bliss, but as a fragile state constantly endangered by loss, internal conflicts, and the impermanence of life. His expressive, physical visual language masterfully captures the duality between unbridled vital force and existential vulnerability.
The monumental scale of his paintings visually floods the hall, completely immersing the viewer in a dense narrative topography that invites reflection on our own ephemerality and the fragile beauty of our civilization.
On the occasion of the opening, the artist will also launch a limited edition of silk handkerchiefs (nine pieces), featuring prints specially created after the exhibited works.
