The exhibition can be visited by the general public from 8th July till 28th of  August 2022, from Wednesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00 at the Museum of Bucharest - Suțu Palace - Bd. I.C. Brătianu, nr.2. The exhibition project "Crossroads - A Time-lapse of Bucharest" is supported by Anaid Art Gallery in partnership with the Museum of Bucharest.

Mihai Florea is a graduate of the University of Arts Bucharest, Faculty of Painting, class of Prof. Petru Lucaci and a Master in the same field. With a rich exhibition activity since 2011, the artist has had a series of solo exhibitions both in Bucharest and in New York and Berlin, two important centers of contemporary art.

The "Crossroads" series of paintings imagines a city in a continuous present, in which elements of the past intertwine with elements of the present. Over the emblematic buildings of Bucharest - the triumphal arch, the theatre, the history museum - female characters cut from different eras and histories are superimposed to underline the coexistence of a hypothetical set of multiple possible universes that make up the whole reality.

The 12 (twelve) female characters in the works are integrated into the landscape of Bucharest, accompanied by various means of locomotion. Parallel histories are increasingly meaningful in a truncated epic narrative, in which the fragment, the sequence, the moment becomes more important in the economy of the work than the history of the place itself. Mihai Florea is not interested in capturing historical truth, or an era per se; the artist is much more interested in merging personal histories, fragments of time, buildings, places and spaces.

The 12 (twelve) works, created between 2021-2022, are painted like a photographic montage creating a timeless and fluid Bucharest.

The exhibition will take the form of a mental map designated by the route of the wooden structures, following the path of the roads at the crossroads, on which the 12 (twelve) works will be displayed. The paintings will come to life through QR codes that accompany them, in which the visitor will discover 2D animated versions of the works.
