The exhibition "The Year The World Stopped" signed by Alexandru Rădvan proposes a series of paintings and a large picto-relief-textile, which were born from the experiences lived in the year of Pandemic 2020. The paintings created, mostly during the lockdown, express the impossibility of leaving a given space and the introspection to which the characters are subjected. Rădvan is an artist of extreme situations, his creative force is unleashed in the moments of balance emanating in a painting which emphasizes and questions the social structure of contemporary society. The isolation, distance, the feeling of profound loneliness, the deep silence makes their presence felt in the construction of the characters and the interiors. Some of the characters occur in the middle of lush vegetations, in the scorching sun or in clear waters reminiscent of a world that was not long ago possible.

"The Year The World Stopped" is about each of us and how we relate to a moment when our lives change in a split of a second. All the plans, desires, postponements, dreams, everything that meant today and tomorrow, received other nuances and valences, our life received a different sense and a different meaning.

The works, included in this exhibition, were created in 2020 and, are shown to the public for the first time.

The exhibition space of the gallery has been redesigned for this exhibition season to replicate a cloistered block of flats, precisely to offer a unique viewing experience. Only one person is allowed to visit the exhibition, that one may emphasize the idea of introspection and inner reflection.

The visit can take place according to the measures regarding the access and contact with the visiting public in museums and art galleries according to the Government Decision no. 476/2020 Order 2941/2020.
