Museum of Art Constanţa invite you on Wednesday, 10th of January 2024, at 16:00 to the opening of the solo show "Skin to Skin" signed by Alexandru Rădvan, curator: Mark Gisbourne. The exhibition project is organized by the Museum of Art Constanţa and supported by Anaid Art Gallery Bucharest/Berlin/Baden-Baden.

The solo show "Skin to Skin" signed by Alexandru Rădvan is the first artistic event of the anniversary year "20 years of Anaid Art Gallery 2004 - 2024". After every ten years we made a change in the life of our gallery, because change means evolution : 2004 - Bucharest I 2015 - Berlin I 2024 - Baden-Baden.

Alexandru Rădvan is one of the most prolific and important artists of the generation of the 2000s, with an impressive exhibition record, returning year after year with museum shows in Romania and abroad where he exhibits his series of large paintings. The solo show "Skin to Skin", conceived for the space of the Museum of Art in Constanta, brings together 10 (ten) large paintings made in 2023 - four of which are 3 (three) meters long each - and a series of drawings foreshadowing the pictorial developments.

Having as starting point the binomial "nude/nudity" and "naked/nakedness", the exhibition continues the artist's preoccupations in recent years with the body, desires and intimacy of passionate-reflexive moments. This time, Alexandru Rădvan moves away from the mythological narrative and enters an area of representation of a personal narrative, a kind of intimate diary, in which the viewer becomes a self-contained voyeur in the pictorial context. The scenes depicted seem to tell the story of the eternal intertwining of two human beings in a state of dreaming or semi-trembling. "Skin to Skin" is an exhibition about visualizing the touch, tactility, reverie and laziness.

About this new series of paintings and drawings the artist confessed : “The scent of your skin, the warmth of mine. The words of our endless small talks, the long silent moments. My fingers in your hair, eyes half closed and two drops of sweat. All monumental and unforgettable.”

Alexandru Rădvan (b. 1977, Bucharest) is a graduate of the University of Arts Bucharest, Faculty of Painting, class of Prof. Florin Mitroi and lecturer at the University's Department of Painting. With a PhD in "Image Science" conferred by the University of Bucharest, Alexandru Rădvan began to exhibit constantly since the end of 1998 and became one of the leading representatives of contemporary Romanian art in the 2000s. With numerous solo and group exhibitions, Alexandru Rădvan has exhibited in important contemporary art centres, museums and galleries in Berlin, New York, Rome, and Paris, among which we mention: "Days of a Colossus", Museum of Art, Craiova (2023); "Thoughts about Sun and a Myth", Nicolae Minovici Museum, Bucharest (2022), "Mythical Flesh", Anaid Art Gallery, Berlin (2021); "Sculptor's Studio", Arad Art Museum, România (2018); "Divine decadence" Kasteel van Gaasbeek, Gaasbeek, Belgia (2016); "Artistic Education in Bucharest and Romanian Art after 1950", National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC), Bucharest, Romania (2015); "Badly Happy", Marina Abramović Institute West (The Performance Art Institute), San Francisco, USA (2010); "Messiahs", Modem-Center for Modern and Contemporary Art, Debrecen, Hungary (2009).
